IO-Defender Frequently Asked Questions

DYNICS IO-Defender is data protection for standalone computers in industrial environments. IO-Defender can identify devices individually or by device type to prevent potential malicious files from entering your system. As with any new software, there are going to be questions. Here is a list of the frequently asked questions about IO-Defender. If you have questions outside of these, please contact the software team at DYNICS at iodefendersupport@dynics.com.

How do I set the Allow Access right for a particular device?

Go to Rights > Devices. There is a list with all the connected devices. Select the desired device, and a pop-up will appear, providing the option to set a specific access right.

 

Why is the use of my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse restricted after I installed IO-Defender?

Unless otherwise defined, the majority of device types are blocked by default. Depending on the exact type of keyboard or mouse you are using, these can be blocked as they are being detected as a Bluetooth device. Changing the rights to Allow Access for the Bluetooth device type will eliminate the issue.

 

What do I have to do to receive email alerts regarding device use?

Configure email settings by going to the Email Alerts section and providing the required information. Please note the SMTP Server username needs to have the domain typed in, too. After filling in all the fields, test the settings by clicking the “Send Test Email” button. Saving the settings ensures email alerts are sent to the specified mailbox.

 

How can I enable the file tracing and where can I see the file tracing logs?

Enable file tracing logs by going to Settings > General Settings - File Tracing. This feature is enabled by default. You can see the file tracing logs in Reports and Analysis section.

 

How can I disable the file tracing and where can I see the file tracing logs?

Disable file tracing logs by going to Settings > General Settings - File Tracing. This feature is enabled by default. You can see the file tracing logs in Reports and Analysis section.

 

How can I export the logs report?

File tracing logs can be exported from the Reports and Analysis section

How can I delete the logs report?

File tracing logs can be deleted from the Reports and Analysis section.

 

How can I change the language?

You can change the language in the main windows by going to Settings > General Settings - Application Language.

 

How can I enable user notification?

Enable user notifications by going to Settings > General Settings - User Notifications section. This feature displays a notification from the tray icon when an unauthorized device is connected to the PC.
